What I love about books is the fact that you make the movie in your mind. When I read Twilight, I absolutely fell in love with each character. It was written in a way that I could get so lost in the story, I would literally find myself holding my breath. Even if you've never read Twilight, you know basically what it is about -- vampires. But, don't let that put you off. I was picturing some kind of Buffy the Vampire Slayer type of story with people running around scared... TOTALLY not Twilight. In Twilight, Bella Swan takes you into the secret vampire world and makes you fall in love with Edward Cullen and his family.
The movie was good. What I didn't like was Bella's character. She was so skittish in an acting-too-hard kind of way. Also, Edward can read minds. I would've liked to have heard through his mind... actually, it would have been better if the movie would have gone more in depth with Alice and Jasper's special talents, too. Another major difference was the book talked a lot about the Cullens' "vegetarian" diet, meaning they only drink the blood of animals, not humans. It would have been neat to see Edward and Emmett hunt. Having said that, I do realize that the book was narrated by Bella, as was the movie. Bella did not get to see them hunt in the first book... I don't know.
Oh yeah! If you have seen the movie, did you notice Stephenie Meyer sitting at the bar in the diner? I saw her right away!

Both movie and book were great. If you haven't read/seen either, definitely read the book first!
Next week, Kalie and I are watching New Moon :o)
Book wins hands down! The last book is by far the best in the entire series! Happy reading :) xxxooo
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you're getting into this series! Books always seem to win out over the movies. Have you heard of Midnight Sun? It's a draft version the author did of Twilight from Edwards perspective. It was leaked somehow so it didn't get published {or something like that} but it's posted to her website and SO good.

I hated the first movie and didn't understand what all the fuss was about, but then my friend insisted I read the book. Wow, what a difference. I now can enjoy the first movie because things make more sense (a lot was left out). I ended up reading the whole series and loved it. The movies continue to let me down but I still enjoy them and look forward to them, if that makes any sense.
ReplyDeleteI love love love the books- my husband even accused me of being in love with Edward! LOL! but the movie- bleh- hated Bella's character and even liked Jacob in the movie. (in the books I was team Edward all the way!) I still watch the movies- but I don't think I would continue to watch them if I hadn't read the books- the books were SO much better
ReplyDeleteNew Moon is better than Twilight, Twilight was a pretty horrible movie. Eclipse is fantastic though!
ReplyDeleteRead all the book before I watched any of the movies. I wanted to see them because of all the hype I was really looking forward to them. I did not see Twilight but I did see new Moon and Eclipse and was so let down. So much left out. I do hope you enjoy them. They are worth seeing and you will understand so much more. Can't wait to hear what you think.
ReplyDeleteI read all the books before seeing each of the movies. (I can't do it the other way around...I always have to read the book before I see the movie.) I loved the books, which is funny considering I'd never read any "vampire" books or books of that type before, but had to see what all the fuss was about. I LOVED the books, and I love the movies too...but the books are definitely better. I think each of the movies gets progressively better too. Can't wait for both parts of Breaking Dawn to hit the theater!
