My DUH Moment

Let's rewind back to Wednesday night, shall we?  I was getting my lunch ready for Thursday. I was pretty excited about a salad I was making. It had romaine lettuce, some diced green and red peppers, sliced strawberries, and some fat free cheddar... SO delicious!  I also packed a little container of frozen chicken pieces. My dressing is a strawberry vinaigrette.  Doesn't that sound refreshing?!?!  Well... On the way to work on Thursday, I realized that I forgot my dressing.  My options were to either save the salad for Friday and bop on over to Subway for a salad, or "borrow" some dressing from the fridge at work.  I told a couple people that I forgot my dressing and they both offered theirs!  Perfect!  I found a tasty balsamic vinaigrette in the fridge and was good to go.  Bonus, someone brought in a bag of nuts so I was able to have fresh cracked walnuts, almonds, and pecans on my salad, as well!

Lunchtime comes around and I am probably more excited for this salad than is normal, but who cares?!  I popped the chicken into the microwave for a minute and began cracking my nuts.  I was getting too frustrated with the stupid wrench that we had to use to crack the nuts (note: if you take a sack 'o nuts into your workplace, take a freakin' nut cracker!) and finally gave up.  I was able to get a few walnuts, a couple of pecans, and one lonely almond.  I poured the dressing on and ate that salad right up!  It was really good!

After we got home from Jaden's school carnival last night and I got both girls in bed, I grabbed my lunch bag from my diaper bag so I could pack my lunch for Friday.  That's when it hit me.
MY CHICKEN WAS STILL IN THE MICROWAVE.
That's right.  I never took the flippin' chicken out!  Are you kidding me?!  I was looking forward to that salad all night and day!  How on earth could I have forgotten the chicken??

I got to work this morning and immediately went into the lounge and saw that the microwave still said "END."  That means I was the last person to use it and sure enough, there sat my warm, smelly chicken.  Today, I packed another salad.  I brought my dressing and another piece of chicken.  Let's hope I still have half a brain by the time lunch rolls around again!  Totally explains why I was so hungry by the end of the work day yesterday... TGIF.

Our Christmas Card Evolution

As most of you have, we've been receiving holiday cards from family and friends for a couple of weeks now.  I love to look at each and every one... especially ones with photos!  I've talked a lot about traditions (here and here) over the holidays.  Another tradition we have in our family is sending out a holiday card.  When I create our Christmas card each year, I make sure to include photos.  Some may be a little quirky, but that is who we are!

From our family to yours, have a wonderful holiday season!!

This year's card was so much fun to do with the girls.  I told them that I had a special project for us to do.  They both got excited because they LOVE my projects!  I then told them that I was going to tie them up.

Jaden: "Are you serious?"
Me: "Yeah!"
Jaden: "Well, are you going to UNTIE us??"
Me: "It depends on whether you cooperate or not."

Their one instruction was, "Act like you're on the naughty list... but BE STILL!"

Yeah, it's going to be a fun Christmas :o)

NOT getting fat on purpose! Stop Googling me!

Ok people, let's get one thing straight.  I AM NOT GETTING FAT ON PURPOSE!  It is true that since I've said bye-bye to the roaring twenties, I've bought about SEVEN extra pounds to the table.  BUT, I did not try to do that, nor can I shed them for whatever reason.  I do not understand these types of people.  If you really are researching the web to find a source on how to get fat on purpose, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE!  Try here instead: Deciding to Get Fat. Then, comment and tell me why on earth you are doing so.  I'm sure those of you that did not find my blog while researching how to get fat on purpose are wondering what in the world I'm talking about, right?  Check the stats:

Stats from YESTERDAY

Stats from LAST WEEK

Stats for the month of AUGUST

Stats from when Blogger decided to start tracking this stuff

Seriously.  I Googled it.  I didn't see my blog on the first page, BUT I was the first IMAGE RESULT!!

Ha!  Yeah...  I'm sure people are pretty disappointed to find out I was PREGNANT!  I'm sure this post will put me on Google's first page though.  Actually, if this post landed you here because you are in fact, trying to get fat on purpose, email me!  I'd love to feature your story!  I mean, people are already coming here for direction.  I might as well give them some useful info!  Until then, stay skinny blogland!!

Giants are the best readers!

Jaden: Mom, guess what! I can read now!
Me: You can? Good job!
Jaden: Yeah, I just learned!
Me: Wow!
Jaden: I can read just like you, Mom!
Me: Really?  Good job, J!
Jaden: I'm getting so tall, aren't I?!

:o)  Mike and I died laughing! Whenever J learns something new or does something really well, we always make the comment, "You're getting so big!"  or, "You're growing up so fast!"  I guess in her 4-year-old head, that means she's getting taller!  Man, just when we think she might possibly be the smartest little girl in the world... ;o)  But, we love her to pieces!!

Book vs. Movie: One for the Money

Close race... I'm giving it a TIE SCORE!  And that's big coming from this book worm!

One of my all time favorite book series is Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. I love love LOVE these books! When I found out that they were finally making a movie for the first book, I was pumped! I knew it would be great!

I was not disappointed!  The movie was pretty much spot on.  From the Burg neighborhood to Stephanie's apartment... and everything in between!  I loved it :o)

The Cast
Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum
The characters were cast perfectly.  Katherine Heigl played Stephanie Plum.  I was worried about whether or not she could pull off a character like Stephanie.  In the book, she is portrayed as this go-getter Jersey girl.  She isn't the toughest or the smartest, but she knows how to get what she wants.  Katherine Heigl played the role perfectly!

Jason O'Mara as Joe Morelli
Jason O'Mara was great as Joe Morelli.  He had the perfect combination of sass and charm.  I'm excited for him to step into his cop roll in later films.

Daniel Sunjata as Ranger
Ah... Ranger :o)  When you read the books, you picture a big, hugely built, brown man.  Kind of like a mixture of The Rock and Vin Diesel.  Daniel Sunjata was great for the roll.  My only beef with him as Ranger is that he doesn't quite have the "bad boy" look to him that Janet Evanovich portrays in the books.

Sherri Shepherd as Lula
Nobody more perfect than Sherri Shepherd could have been cast as Lula!  She was awesome!  I so look forward to her in future movies, scrambling for some cluck in a bucket :o)

Patrick Fischler as Vinnie and Ana Reeder as Connie
Then, there is Vinnie and Connie.  They run the bond office.  Patrick Fischler was the perfect little weasel for Vinnie and Ana Reeder was just right for Connie.

Debbie Reynolds as Grandma Mazur
If you've read the books, you know Grandma Mazur!  Debbie Reynolds did awesome as Gram.  Again, she really comes into character later in the series.  She did do a great job at shooting the pot roast, though! :o)

Other cast members include Debra Monk as Mrs. Plum and Louis Mustillo as Mr. Plum.  They both seem like the right people to be cast as Stephanie's parents.

Overall, the movie was great.  Mike and I double dated with my parents to go see it.  Mom and Dad have both read the book but Mike hasn't (still trying to convince him!)  Mike still enjoyed it and was able to "get it" even without already knowing the story line and the characters.  It was awesome!  Go see it :o)

The One With All The Resolutions

Season 5 - Episode 11
The One With All The Resolutions
Air Date: 1/7/1999

The best Friends episode, hands down, has to be The One with All the Resolutions.

Everyone made a resolution for the new year.  Ross's resolution was to try something new every day.  One of those days involved wearing a pair of leather pants... that got really hot... on a date...

Rachel resolved to not gossiping as much.  She found out about Monica and Chandler and had to tell someone...

Have you seen that episode?  I can't get enough of it.  I laugh every time I watch it!
Happy Friday, friends :o)

Friday Fun: M&Ms vs. Eminem

As I sit here listening to Lighters on YouTube:

Other Person in the Room: "Is that Eminen?"
Me: "EminEM, like the candy, and yes it is Eminem."
OPR: "They're still making music? Aren't they getting old?"
Me: "He. It's not a group. Eminem is a person."
OPR: "Oh, when did they break up?"
Me: "No, Eminem is a person, not a group."
OPR: "Oh, I thought it was Eminems."
Me: "No, that's the candy."
OPR: "No thanks."
Me: "Huh?"
OPR: "Oh, I thought you asked me if I wanted candy."

Dead serious.
