Welcome To Temptation

I just finished Welcome To Temptation by Jennifer Crusie and let me tell you, this one sure did get off to a SLOW start! I was so tempted to stop reading it when I was only a few pages into it. The story started out with two girls, Sophie and Amy, traveling to Temptation, Ohio to film a movie. I was really confused about the setting of the story. I couldn't figure out when it was supposed to be taking place. Everything from how they described the homes to the names of the characters (Phineas) made it sound like it was dated but... I still don't know! I kept reading it and about halfway through, I wondered if the story was ever going to go ANYWHERE! Then, just when I was about to give up on this one, it started to get good!

Sophie and her sister, Amy, were wedding videographers. Amy sought out Temptation, Ohio for a documentary she wanted to film about making a movie. Sophie had a bad feeling about the town from the very beginning. The filming of the movie caused an uproar in this perfect little town when word got out that Clea Whipple was going to be the star. Clea was from Temptation but then moved to L.A. and appeared in an adult film. So, the people of Temptation assumed that the movie was a porn and demanded the mayor, Phin Tucker, to pass an anti-pornography law... Phin went out to the farm to see what was going on and immediately falls for Sophie. Sophie had a bad experience with a goodie "Town Boy" in high school and knew Phin was going to be trouble. Everything got WAY out of hand and Sophie, Phin, Amy, and all of Temptation ended up being in a huge web of gossip, among other things.

Up to the last two chapters, I was giving this book * * * 1/2 out of 5 stars only because I really grew to love Sophie and Phin. After I finished it completely, I am SO tempted to give it * * * * * but because of the rocky start I think I can only give it * * * *3/4. If you start it, please just finish it! I know the first half isn't the greatest but it does get better, I promise!! Actually, at the end I was hoping for a sequel!

The next book is Second Chance by Jane Green. This one has a cute, shiny green and pink cover with cute little flowers on it so it should be good ;o) I'll blog it on July 21st so start reading!
