It's Riverfest Time! Well, it was... back in June.

Our city has lots and lots of festivals. There is literally a different festival every week.  Our favorite is Riverfest!  It is held at the IPFW campus and is geared toward kids and family. There is also a great craft fair that never seems to disappoint when it comes to finding a new, unique ring!

The main attraction of Riverfest (for the itty bitty) this year in the 8000° heat was obviously
BUMPER BOATS!

The kids used their awesome arm strength to maneuver these boats around the 8" deep pool.  It was totally easier when you had your tongue hanging out...

We then visited the fine arts booth where the girls got to dress up :-)

Side note: See that building in the background? That is where I spent all of my days in college... the Visual Arts building!

We then waited close to an hour for the girls to jump on this contraption.

Totally worth the wait... and again, easier with the tongue hanging out ;-)

We LOVE Riverfest and can't wait for it next summer!!

Cheer Camp

Gosh, now I'm having to catch up on my catch up!

This past summer, Jaden attended Cheer Camp for a week in June. On the very last day, they had a recital for the parents in the evening.

First, they had to do their stretches :-)

Then it was cheer time!!  They did a couple of cheers with all of the girls first.

Then, they broke off into age groups and did individual routines with their own group.  Jaden's group were called the HULA-gans.

They were all so cute to watch!

Nevermind the fact that it was over 100° outside and we were facing the sun! Taylor found a ride back to the car...

And that was cheer camp!  There are only a couple of weeks left in October... I hope I can still get caught up!

Zoo Day with Gramma J

Like I have said before, we have a membership to our zoo. We love going all summer long!

This trip, Gramma J came along to enjoy the fun!

Mike made a new friend :-)

These are my favorite animals at the zoo. They are the red pandas. I felt so bad for these little cuties because shortly before, they had a baby and it didn't survive :-(  Apparently is is rare for red panda babies to survive. That is why they are so endangered.  They are SO cute though!

Funny story about this croc... The zoo sometimes gets animals that have been rescued. More often than not, people think they can have these animals as pets in their homes. When they change their mind, the zoo sometimes takes them.  Well, this alligator used to be a drug guard. I heard that drug dealers had it in their house to guard their drugs and/or money from people trying to steal it.  This guy is like 8 feet long!

I love how the girls break off tiny pieces of bread, line them up, and flick them into the water one at a time :-)

Another fun zoo day!  Thanks for joining us, Gramma J!

After the zoo, we went home and played outside for a while. The girls heard the ice cream truck and since it was 100° outside, I decided to splurge on a few frozen treats :-)

Just another fun summer weekend!
