Shanterest: Boots and Stripes and Scarves, Oh my!

Day 14: Boots and Stripes and Scarves, Oh my!

Woops! I missed a day... almost missed two days!  I was busy scrapbooking one of the best nights of my 30 living years, also know as THE TRAIN CONCERT!  Yes, I'll blog about it someday :o)  At least during my busy weekend, I looked good!  I don't know about you all, but I can NOT get enough of the boots and scarves this season.  Love 'em!  I liked the mix of color and pattern with the stripes in this pin:

Because I don't have a fun, bold printed scarf as pictured, I decided to layer my scarves instead.  The yellow pops against the black and white stripe and the black crocheted scarf is a nice contrast in pattern.  Typically, I would have worn a skinny jean and black boot, but because of this pin, I decided to go with the brown boots.  I also wore a boot cut jean, tucked in.  I loved the idea of the socks showing through the holes in my knees, but the dumb things kept on falling.  Whatever... Happy fall!

Shanterest: Teal and Gray

Day 11: Teal and Gray

I love the color combo in this outfit!  Teal is really popular right now.  I also like the chunky sweater.  Fall is definitely here!

Here's how I re-created this comfy ensemble:
Sweater: Maurices; Shirt: Old Navy; Jeans: Maurices; Shoes: Minnetonka;
Jewelry: garage sales , craft fairs, and  hand-me-downs
Happy Friday!!

Shanterest: Pink Skinny Jeans!

Day 5: Pink Skinny Jeans
Gosh, I've wanted hot pink skinny jeans for sooooo long. I've tried them on everywhere I could find them, but could never find any that didn't require removal of half my thigh to fit.  Depressing.  That is until I tried Old Navy's Rockstar Pop-Color Jeans!  I mean, come on... Rockstar?!? Duh.

As a side note, I'd like to point out that this photo is disgustingly doctored. Nobody has legs that curvy... Not even in a good way.

Anyway, I bought the skinny jeans... but had no idea how to wear them. Obviously I turned to Pinterest!

I LOVED the way they were paired with the brown boots in this pin!  The big white top also took away from the fact that the pants looked painted on.  I also like the simple necklace.  The pants are a statement in themselves.  Everything else has to be simple.

Well?  Do they work?  Either way, they are SUPER comfy!  I'm thinking I need a pair in ever color ;o)

Shanterest: Easy French Tips

Day 3: Easy French Tips

When I saw this pin, I knew it was meant for me! I love to switch it up a bit when it comes to painting my nails.  Maybe it's the rock star in me ;o)

Although the original idea looked fun, I thought it would look better with two colors!

Now, forgive the mess that is my nails. I obviously painted them the Wet Cement color a few days ago, but what better way to cover up bummed up tips?!

First, use reinforcement labels to create your French tip line.

I wasn't completely sold on this idea right from the start because the arch of the label did not match the cut of my stubby nails.

Next, I painted the tips with the Fig color.

I even had the awesome idea of painting the middle circle on the thumb! High hopes on this little project and......

The labels pulled the bottom layer of polish off!

That's ok, right? I can just touch up the base color...

No.  Didn't even work a little.  The labels left a gooey mess on my nails.  Maybe because, 1) They were permanent, and 2) They were OLD.  Probably not good things.

I'm not gonna give up though!  I'll try it the boring way some other time :o)
