Over the Hump!!

I'm officially into my second trimester!! Yea!! For those of you who are familiar with the infamous "belly pictures" I took when I was pregnant with Jaden, don't worry... I'm taking them! I'm just waiting to post them until they become... um... fatter? Right now I am not really showing. My belly is popped out a bit but definitely not like I was with Jaden. I'm just happy that we crossed that three-month threshold. I'm going to try REALLY hard to get that baby room cleaned out this weekend. We have another Dr. appointment next Friday and HOPEFULLY we'll get to do a quick gender check! I'm ready to know and stop calling baby an "it". I'm ready to get that room finished! Jaden is starting to understand the whole baby thing a little bit. When I ask, "Where's Mom's baby?" she points to my belly. Sometimes she says, "full!!" I think it will be easier for her to understand once we get the room finished. I have great ideas for both a boy room and a girl room! I just don't have ANY ideas for an either/or room :o)

Have you ever contemplated a career change? Don't worry, Mom and Gramma!! I'm not planning on switching any time soon! I stopped at Starbucks this morning (by the way, DO NOT try their new breakfast sandwiches! They are NASTY!) and one of my old friends from back in the Uno's days was working there. I thought, how fun would it be to be a coffee barista?!?! Talk about a stress free job! I would LOVE to be able to walk to work and have my hours be 5 am to 1 pm. PLUS, your only qualifications would be to know how to make coffee! I'd love it! Think Starbucks would give me like $20 an hour?

All of our Curious George paraphernalia for Jaden's birthday party came in the mail yesterday! I don't know who was more excited, Jaden or me! I got all of her invitations made too. I got to stay home with Jaden yesterday because Krista had the flu (hope you're feeling better, Krista!!). Honestly, it was probably a good thing because the is FINALLY cutting those last two teeth and is kind of cranky. She wants to be held constantly! I feel so bad for her... At least these are the last two and we can take a break from the teeth cutting for at least a year or so!! The next thing we need to tackle is the paci habit. She ONLY gets paci in bed now. The bad thing about that is, she wakes up in the night when she can't find it. If she didn't have the dumb thing, she'd sleep through the night! Mom told me about Elisabeth's (from the View) "Paci Fairy" idea. I like it but I don't think she's old enough to understand the concept yet. Do I try to break her habit BEFORE baby #2 is here, or does it really matter? When the time comes, I think I'll send Mike away for the weekend because if she cries in the night and wants paci, he'll give in! I know I have a lot of moms that read this... how did you break the habit? When did you do it?

Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend! OH! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY!!!

Hey Shan! Thanks for the bday wishes. Good luck with the baby room! I can't wait to find out too! Aunt Kelly wants to go baby shopping. LOL
As far as the paci thing, I just threw them all away and told Marissa they were ALL GONE. She was like, "OK!" My mom did that with me, too, and she said it worked great. They definitely understand ALL GONE. Just think, outta sight, outta mind. You could give her George or Arthur and tell her to snuggle them instead...

Hey sweetie, Do you have a "both" bedroom decor too? Also, when the baby comes, ask Jaden to give paci to the baby! Big sister looking after her "broster".

Psychologically, once the baby comes, some older kids worry that you are replacing them, and they still want to be your baby (whether they realize it or not). The best time to have Jaden get rid of her paci is well before the baby comes or long after she's used to the new baby. Using the big girl bed would be a good idea if she's excited about that. You could easily say that another part of being a big girl is getting rid of the paci...just don't relate it to the new baby or you could create some resentment between the two. I hope that helps!
