Parents At Work

Last week, I called Mike at work.

Mike: "Hello?"
Me: "Hey!"

Mike: What's wrong?
Me: Nothing.

Mike: Who's sick?
Me: Nobody.

Mike: Usually you call if something is wrong or someone is sick.
Me: Nope, just bored.
Mike: Gee, thanks.

blah, blah, blah...

Mike: Alright, I'll talk to you later.
Me: Ok. Have a great rest of the day!

Mike: Love you.
Me: Love you more, love you most, EX STRIKE!
Mike: Smurf you!

For the record, I have no idea what "ex strike" means.  When we tell Jaden "Love you," we have to go through the whole "love you more, love you most," just like in the movie Tangled.  Rapunzel says something after her mother says, "love you most."  I'll have to watch it again to see what it is that Jaden is trying to say after that because it comes out as "ex strike!"

Friday Fun: Truth #2

How well do you know me?
  1. I took dance classes all through elementary school. TRUE!
  2. I played the flute in high school band.
  3. I collect coins.
  4. I have had a job since I was 15 years old.

Truth #2: I have had a job since I was 15 years old.

Totally true!  I started working at Dairy Queen when I was 15.  I made $4.75 an hour.  It was a fun job!  We made root beer bongs, went sledding on snow mounds with trays, surfed down the stairs on boxes, tried to see how many chili cheese dogs we could eat when the boss wasn't looking... It was great :o)  Oh and I forgot about the lady with no teeth that used to suck on dill pickles and onions all day... That's hot.

I worked there at good 'ol DQ for three years and then became a cashier at Wal-Mart.  The only good part about that job was closing down on Christmas Eve with one of my good buddies.  Imagine being in Wally World and ALL of the lights going off.  Scary.  The rest of it sucked so I went across the parking lot to Fashion Bug.  I worked there until I went away to Purdue to go to college.

Totally forgot about J.C. Flicks! I worked there for a day :o)

At Purdue, I didn't work at all for the first few months of college.  After a short break, I started working at the Telefund.  I was the annoying student that called Purdue alumni and asked them to donate money to their alma mater.  Eventually, I was promoted to data entry (glamorous, right?)

During my summers home, I worked for the Garrett Parks Department.  One summer I painted every fence in every Garrett park silver.  My friend and I basically bathed in mineral spirits for a whole summer to get the silver paint off of our skin, hair, and clothes.  The next summer, I painted curbs yellow.  Suck times 100.

When I moved back to Fort Wayne, I worked as a server at Steak 'n Shake (I may or may not have applied because of a crush on a certain server).  After a year at SNS, I quit and worked as the cashier at the Garrett Pool and then as a hostess/server at Uno's. I made lots-o-cash serving there!  I picked up a couple of shifts working at Charlotte Russe one Christmas and tried my hand at being a shot girl at Piere's for two nights... awful job.

After Uno's, I worked at Buffalo Wings and Ribs until I got my first graphic design job at Steffen Group Auction and Real Estate.  I stayed there until I had Jaden and needed to work full-time at a company with benefits.  That led me to where I am now, working as the graphic designer for Fort Wayne Community Schools.  Now, I'm ready to retire :o)

Sometimes I look back on my old jobs and remember thinking that life was rough then!  What I wouldn't give now to only have the responsibility (not the paycheck) of a DQ cashier!

It was brought to my attention that I forgot a job...
I worked for my mom at Bisque It Pottery Painting Studio!!
Although it was technically a job, I considered it fun :o)

Oh, and if we are really digging deep, I guess I did have a paper route when I was in elementary school :o)

Baby, you're a firework!

As I'm sure most of you do, I have Monday off work for the 4th of July.  I am looking forward to hanging out with my girlies, my BFF, and her son.  Our guys are going to a party with beer and cuss words.  We have the day perfectly planned out and are heading to a cookout after the kiddos take a nap.  I'm sure it will be a great day and we will have lots of fun!  My only beef: It's a MONDAY.  Yes, we do get the day off of work, but we also have to go in the next day.  I really don't have a problem doing that, but my girls?  Yeah, they will be bears the next morning!  It is hard enough getting everyone up and out the door on time when they are in bed by 8:00.  How on earth am I supposed to wake them from their hibernation and be out the door by 6:55 in the morning if they don't even get into bed until closer to 11?  Coincidentally, my PTO days are renewed on July 1st.  Would it be horrible for me to take some time on Tuesday morning to let my kids sleep?

This kind of falls along the same lines as the Superbowl.  There was a lot of debate on whether or not it was ok for parents to let their kids stay home from school on the Monday following the Superbowl.  In this instance, I say no.  I think it is a little different (maybe) because I don't have boys, but if I can remember correctly, my brother and I never got "personal days" when we were in school.  We were expected to go to school unless we were ill.  Oh, and I did go to work on the Monday after the Superbowl.

So, what do you think?  Are there any other moms out there that are calling in on Tuesday morning due to cranky kids?  Am I in the wrong or do you totally agree?

You said it!

Welcome to the longest week EVER.
Here's hoping today and tomorrow fly by.
I don't know if I've ever said this before, but I *LOVE* my job.
Love it.
Not.

Especially when six stupid hours are spent trying to get royal blue bluer than blue.  Love it.

How do you measure self-worth?

That is what I look at each and every day that I sit in my crap hole of a job.  It's not cute.  It's not creative.  It's the truth.  I feel like if I don't remind myself of that 500 bazillion times a day, I may lose it.

I hate my job.  I went to school in hopes of landing a super awesome graphic design job that I could go to and create super cool things that people look at and say, "Holy crap!  How did you do that?"  Instead, I get my sorry butt out of bed each and every morning and go to a job where I am not using my creative abilities 95% of the time.  I design crap for teachers.  Do you know how many times I am asked to use clip art??  Asking a graphic designer to use clip art is like asking your doctor to use your kid's Fisher Price doctor's kit.  It's an insult and it just doesn't work.  But, I do it because I don't have a choice.  I try to make it my own and not use the crappy clip art and I am told to do it like they want it.  It sucks.  REALLY bad.

I try not to let my butt hole job interfere with my home life.  I try really hard.  Last week alone, I had Mike ask me if "we" were ok because I seemed distant and Jaden asked me if I was happy.  I am so depressed at work and unfortunately it shows at home.  I think of the hours that I am pulled away from my kids to be at a place that sucks the life out of me and I feel so guilty.  This job has ruined me and what I ever thought my future would be.  If I were to lose this job, I would probably never go into graphic design again.  That is how much I despise the work I do.

The economy sucks right now.  I feel like Mike and I are hamsters running on a wheel.  We want to move but we need to save up money first.  We can't seem to save one penny because unexpected expenses always come up.  I hate that I go to work every day to a job I don't like and my check is spent before I even bring it home.  We both try to do things to make some extra money on the side but it still doesn't get us off of that stupid wheel.  Good things come to those who wait, right?

Since I'm being honest, I'm going to tell you what I really want to do.  I want to stay home with my girls and run a home day care.  I think I would be great at it.  I would get the chance to be there for my kids as well as a few other kids too.  I could use my creativity by doing projects with the kids.  I would be my own boss and get paid for doing what I love.  So why am I not doing that?  It's because of the darn hamster wheel again.  We want to move in the next couple of years.  What would you do if the home you were taking your kids to everyday suddenly put a "For Sale" sign in the front yard?  You would look elsewhere because you don't want to be left without childcare, right?  Then, I could potentially be left with a house that won't sell and no income.  I need to wait until we move and are in a permanent location.  BUT, like I said, we aren't in a place to save a whole lot right now so that is kind of hard to even think about.

Someday...

Someday we'll save enough money...

Someday we'll be able to move...

Someday I'll quit my job...

Someday...

Randomness right now....

I love fall.  I love everything about fall!  I love the clothes, the colors, the leaves falling, apple cider, the falling temperatures, EVERYTHING!  One thing I am SO in love (like All-4-One style) this fall is PUMPKIN!  It is my mission in life... or at least this fall... to eat/drink all things pumpkin!  So far, I've enjoyed a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks (more than once!), a pumpkin pie blizzard from DQ, and this morning I devoured a pumpkin filled muffin from Starbucks!  I am also itching to get over to IHOP for some pumpkin pancakes.  What am I missing out on?  What are your favorite pumpkin treats?

Two songs make me turn my radio up and sing my little heart out...
Eminem and Rihanna's Love the Way You Lie

p.s. That is the color that my hair was before I toned it down... yikes!

and Bruno Mars's Just The Way You Are

SO good :o)

Today is going to be a great day.  First, I get off of work early to go to the dentist.  It may seem strange to be excited about this, but just wait!  I have a super cool post coming up about this!  Then, I am having a massage.  Mike got me a gift certificate for Mother's Day and I'm just now getting to use it!  It will be so relaxing!  Then tonight, I am going to Abby's to watch Grey's and Private Practice with her and Kalie.

Get this!  This is so lame.  Yesterday, I was at my desk when a co-worker came in and told me a reporter from the newspaper was here because we were given zippers.  Apparently someone called our warehouse and asked if we could use some zippers.  That someone was Vera Bradley and those zippers were in the amount of two pallets stacked six feet high each.  I still don't quite understand the donation... Most likely VB wanted to get rid of their junk zippers so they thought that if they donated them, not only would they get a tax write-off but also get their name printed once again.  Jackpot!  Anyway, you can read the rest of the story here.

Last but not least, you all should head over to Amanda's blog and wish her congrats!  She gave birth to Miss Rosalie Pearl last Friday!  Dad, Mom, and baby are all doing great!  Congrats Michael & Amanda!!

Happy Thursday, everyone!

Maybe I'M a man... Bring on the rumors!

Let's set the stage... I'm sitting in the break room at work trying desperately to get into my book and enjoying a cup of semi-warm coffee when talk of Idol out in the lobby makes my ears perk up.  I have been a die hard Danny Lee (still a little bitter) fan since day one.  I think he is awesome.  Last night made me smile and as Mike said, "Let me guess, this melts your heart?"  Absolutely, babe!  Back to Idol chat... My co-workers were talking about the fact that Crystal sang Maybe I'm Amazed by Paul McCartney.  Here, see for yourself:

Awesome, right?  Well, people I work with think that (not even quite sure how to explain this because it is so idiotic) Crystal didn't change "Maybe I'm a man" to say "woman" because Ellen chose it for her?  They think that because Ellen is gay, she chose a man's song for a woman to sing.  Rediculous.  Personally, I believe that Crystal didn't change it because it's a Paul freakin' McCartney song and you don't mess with perfection.  Who gives a crap if she said "man"??  Yeah, I'll bet she was really taking into consideration Ellen's sexuality when she sang that.  Idiots, I tell ya!

Just in case you missed it, here is my heart-melting action:

See Simon's face at the end??  He's like, "Told'ya!"  He's winning, for sure.

Back in the Swing of Things

I started back to work last Monday. Part of me was happy to be back but another part of me was sad to realize that another woman would be spending more time with my girls than I would. She will get to see them smile and hear them laugh all day while I get to sit in front of a computer doing work I never pictured myself doing (and not in a "wow! I never thought I'd get the chance to do this!" kind of way). Jaden loves going to the babysitter's house! Taylor is too young to know any different yet, but she doesn't cry all day so that has to say something. Jaden looks forward to going there and playing with her friends. I know they are in good hands. I don't worry about that one bit. I know TONS of people leave their kids at a sitter's house or daycare during the day while they trot off to work. I accept that this is how it has to be, but I don't have to be 100% thrilled about it.

My job is a job. I work and should be thankful for that... especially with so many people losing their jobs. I just wish I liked it more. I don't HATE it, but it is not what I went to school everyday for. Anyone could do what I do. I want to create things that WOW people! I want to be asked, "how did you do that?!?" I don't want to drop signatures onto forms. I don't want to copy text from a Word document and paste it into a publishing program. I want an actual desk, not two banquet tables pushed together. Someday I'll be able to work my dream job!

One thing I am very pleased with is the way we have all fallen into a routine. Mike wakes up to feed Taylor in the night. I get up at 5:30 to get ready for work. I dress Taylor and take her to the sitter's at 7:00, then am at work before 7:30. Mike wakes up at 7:30 to get around for work. He dresses Jaden and takes her to the sitter's at 8:30 and is at work before 9:30. I pick the girls up after work at 4:30. We go home, unpack their bag, and re-pack it for the next day. I pack my lunch for the next day and set my coffee pot timer for the next morning. I then start dinner while Jaden plays and Taylor snoozes for a bit. Mike it home by 5:30. We eat dinner at 6:00 and Taylor eats around 6:30. I feed Taylor and Mike clears the dinner table. We all hang out together until 8:00 baths. Jaden is in bed at 8:30 and Taylor gets PJs on and ready for her last bottle at 9:30-10:00. She goes down for bed and I shower. Then Mike and I FINALLY get to relax and watch some TV together before we head to bed around 11:00 (if not before)... lather, rinse, repeat! It's a busy, busy life! Mike and I talk a lot about our past. We remember times when we would sleep until 9:00 before going to class for a few hours. We'd then come home and hang out until work at 4:00. After work (on the weekends), we'd come home and get ready to go out with friends. And we thought life was crazy then!! Sometimes I wish I could peek into the future to see what lies ahead...

Don't Let the Man Get You Down

Just in case you were wondering, Jaden was ready to go on our walk right when I got home from work yesterday! She had Baby Carebear in her stroller and ready to go! So, take that, Mike! It was a good "incentive" after all! Today: "If you're a good girl for Gramma Karen and take a good nap at her house, then we'll go to the TOY STORE!" She doesn't even need to buy anything to have fun at Toys 'R Us. Of course, sometimes we give in and get her something anyway just because we can :o)

So, I was in tears leaving work yesterday. I work with the most inconsiderate, sorry excuse for a human being on the planet. I'm almost to the point where I can not even stand the sight of him. In the past, he has told me I smell like puke and stale cigars (come to find out, it was my coconut lotion that he didn't like). Once when we all went out to lunch, he said, "I don't mean to be unsocial, but I really can't stand the smell of her," as he squeezed in on the other side of the booth. Embarrassing? Yes. Thanks, jerk. I tried to not let those two little things bother me considering the source. On another occasion, he asked me how much weight I've gained. I was a little offended but ended up telling him. He responds by saying, "That's it? I would've guessed more." Strike two, buddy! Then, I walked past him to go to the lounge to get my sandwich one day and he made a comment, "Wow, that was fast." I stopped and kinda looked at him funny and showed him my sandwich. He said he thought that I was in the restroom because "pregnant people pee a lot." I'm not talking about my pee with you, thanks. I kindly explained that even though it was none of his business, sometimes I get up just to stretch my legs. I don't always go to the restroom. Well, yesterday was (as Dad would say) the "straw that broke the camel's back." I was walking out the door and he says, "I don't mean to be nasty, but you are really looking heavy." WHAT?!?! When on earth is that comment EVER appropriate? I don't care if the person is pregnant or not, it is just plain rude to tell a person they look heavy. It hurt me. I am naturally a self-conscious person as it is (I can't even change my clothes in front of Jaden) and being pregnant makes it a little worse. I try to make myself presentable and not look like a fat slob and to have someone say that to me just broke me down. After talking with Mom, Kelly, and Mike, I feel a lot better. I'm going to try and not let him get to me. This is the last time I will be pregnant. This is the last time I will get to feel the little baby moving around inside my body (as uncomfortable as it is sometimes, I truly believe it is a miraculous thing I am doing). I only have about eight weeks left. I'm going to do my best to enjoy them and appreciate the changes my body is going through in order to bring another beautiful little girl into the world. Screw you, lonely old man!

A Case of the Mondays... on a Tuesday... but like a Wednesday

Stop. Rewind. Play.

I wish it were that simple! Today is starting out freaking fabulous... not. Jaden woke up around 4:45 this morning and when I went in to check on her, I noticed that it looked like the dome light was on in my car. I chalked it up to being tired and figured it was the street light shining down in my sun roof. I went back to bed but I couldn't stop thinking about it. I woke Mike up and told him I was going to go outside to see if my light was on in my car. Sure enough, it was! The driver's door was ajar. I unlocked it, opened it, closed it, locked it, and went back inside. I got back in bed and just laid there wide awake thinking, "why was my door ajar?" Eventually, I got up and got ready for work just HOPING my battery wasn't dead. I got in my car to go to work and noticed the contents of my console and glove box on the floor of the passenger seat. I freaked out, noticed my iTrip was missing and went back inside. I went and told Mike my car was broken into. I checked it again to see if the lock had been messed with, it hadn't. I checked for broken window, scratched, anything... nothing. The only thing we can come up with is that I forgot to lock it and as luck would have it, some dumb kid got lucky. You see, when J and I got home yesterday, she was a little moody and I had a TON of stuff to carry in. I had all four doors plus the back end open at one time or another so I had to lock it with my key remote. I lugged everything up to the house and must have forgotten to click it locked. I'm ticked that my iTrip is gone but it could've been worse. I'm just thankful for no damage to my car. All of my CDs were still there too (the WHOLE reason I bought a bumble bee CD wallet... nobody would steal that!). That just proves that I AM the only Michael Bolton fan left :o) I was parked RIGHT UNDER a street light! I don't get it... oh well, like I said, I'm grateful it was just one $40 item instead of hundreds of dollars in damage. The day can ONLY get better now, right?

WRONG. So, I was about 10 minutes late to work and didn't have time to stop to get a coffee (which by the way I REALLY needed considering I had been up since 4:30 am). I got caught up on a few projects and went to the pop machine to get a Diet Pepsi... SOLD FREAKIN' OUT! The ONLY diet pop in the machine and it's gone. I already had my money in there and the coin return didn't work, so I got a Mtn. Dew, straight up. Now, my teeth itch and my mouth tastes sour. Gross.

This is supposed to be an easy-peasy week! I have Friday off so TECHNICALLY, today should feel like a Wednesday! On Friday, I'm meeting up with a good friend for lunch. I'm excited because like me, she is also pregnant (due one month after me) and we can share our stories. Then J and I are off to buy birthday presents for Mike's dad. We are getting him lawn chairs... I know, fancy-schmancy, right? Well the man has two. That's it. Two. For nine people to share. We are getting him two more. I know, I know... 2+2 does NOT equal nine but 4 is better that 2, right?

Mom and I went to see My Sister's Keeper last Saturday. It was good. The ending was disappointing and I still have a hard time taking Cameron Diaz seriously (she was the mom?!?!), but other than that, I enjoyed it! It was a really good movie :o) Our next book-to-movie date will be The Time Traveler's Wife. I was planning on reading all Marian Keyes this summer, but the preview looked so good, I can't pass up the book!

That's about it around here! Hopefully my day will improve a little... Happy Tuesday/Monday/Wednesday ;o)

Everyone Has One...

... a BAD DAY. Yesterday was my turn. You KNOW it's a bad day when you fall asleep with tears welling in your eyes.

I'm not blaming anyone, so no apologies please!

So, what made my day so bad...
  1. I was told at work that my boss basically has no faith in me.
  2. Also at work, I was told I smelled "pukey... like a cigar" because of my COCONUT lotion.
  3. I forgot my umbrella when Mike and I went out to run errands.
  4. I was supposed to pick Jaden up at 4:30 so she could go home and play then go to dinner with Mike and me before spending the night at Karen's. She had a hard time napping at Bisque It so Mike went and got her and took her to his mom's to nap. I asked Karen to call me when she either woke up (if they weren't going to the baseball game) or when they got home from the game so I could see her. Well, she woke up at 4:30 but I didn't get a call until a little before 7:00 so I basically didn't get to see Jaden yesterday. I really, REALLY hate when I have days like that.
  5. Mike went to get his hair cut at 3:30ish and so I expected him to basically be right behind me when I got home. I had things I needed to do like clean vegetables and go to the post office but figured RIGHT when I got started, he'd get home and we'd need to leave. So, I waited until 6:00 before I finally texted him and asked if he was ever coming home. In all honesty, I thought maybe I was supposed to meet him somewhere and I forgot. Well, he immediately called me and was NOT HAPPY because there were 9 people in front of him at the barber AND he had to detour twice on the way home because of two different wrecks. When he gets home and I try to tell him about the phone call I had earlier in the day with the computer guy (we are getting ours fixed) he just argued with me (even though I admittedly know nothing when it comes to fixing computers). I then asked him what time the post office closed and that started a whole new argument about how he thought we were just going two places and I never told him I needed to go to the post office... I think he was having a bad day too. We ran our errands all while arguing in the car because I misunderstood what he was talking about and he HATES to explain himself more than once (if I didn't get it the first time, I must not have been listening).
  6. I thought to myself, "at least I look cute today!" only to be told MULTIPLE times I looked "very pregnant today." In other words, "you really shouldn't wear white while you're pregnant." In my defense, I have only a few maternity shirts that I don't overheat in. I will most likely wear the same shirts week to week... get over it. Also, I'm due in less that 3 months! I'M FREAKING SHOWING! DUH! It's not like I'm some 15 year old girl that needs to hide my growing tummy so not to get stares from disapproving adults. I'm a married 27 year old with her PLANNED second child growing inside of her! Ugh... I really don't like pregnancy comments on my size...
  7. We went to dinner and had the world's most incompetent server. At this point it didn't even matter that my food kind of sucked...
  8. I go and spend my whole hour of the day with Jaden (if that).
  9. We get home and argue some more about the computer.
  10. I get ready for bed and realize I sent MY toothbrush with Jaden instead of hers.
  11. We go to bed and Mike asks me what I want on the TV. I said I didn't care (because I didn't care) and then he gets annoyed because I closed my eyes (imagine that!!) and why did he put it on Conan if I was going to sleep (maybe because I said I DIDN'T CARE)? So he changes the channel to something he wants, puts the sleep timer on to go off after MIDNIGHT (trust me, I kept my mouth shut on that one) and immediately fell asleep. I never opened my eyes because I knew the tears would come out if I did and once I started, I didn't know if I would stop. Besides, Mike hates when I cry... I really didn't want another argument to start.

Hopefully today will be better... I dodged a glob of grape jelly falling from my PB&J this morning. Instead of landing on my khaki shorts, it went to my khaki-colored seat in my car... I really can't forget to clean that when I get home!!

Sorry for the negative blog... I normally have good days! Not yesterday... oh, and in case you are wondering, I'm wearing a tummy-hiding black shirt today.

Over the Hump!!

I'm officially into my second trimester!! Yea!! For those of you who are familiar with the infamous "belly pictures" I took when I was pregnant with Jaden, don't worry... I'm taking them! I'm just waiting to post them until they become... um... fatter? Right now I am not really showing. My belly is popped out a bit but definitely not like I was with Jaden. I'm just happy that we crossed that three-month threshold. I'm going to try REALLY hard to get that baby room cleaned out this weekend. We have another Dr. appointment next Friday and HOPEFULLY we'll get to do a quick gender check! I'm ready to know and stop calling baby an "it". I'm ready to get that room finished! Jaden is starting to understand the whole baby thing a little bit. When I ask, "Where's Mom's baby?" she points to my belly. Sometimes she says, "full!!" I think it will be easier for her to understand once we get the room finished. I have great ideas for both a boy room and a girl room! I just don't have ANY ideas for an either/or room :o)

Have you ever contemplated a career change? Don't worry, Mom and Gramma!! I'm not planning on switching any time soon! I stopped at Starbucks this morning (by the way, DO NOT try their new breakfast sandwiches! They are NASTY!) and one of my old friends from back in the Uno's days was working there. I thought, how fun would it be to be a coffee barista?!?! Talk about a stress free job! I would LOVE to be able to walk to work and have my hours be 5 am to 1 pm. PLUS, your only qualifications would be to know how to make coffee! I'd love it! Think Starbucks would give me like $20 an hour?

All of our Curious George paraphernalia for Jaden's birthday party came in the mail yesterday! I don't know who was more excited, Jaden or me! I got all of her invitations made too. I got to stay home with Jaden yesterday because Krista had the flu (hope you're feeling better, Krista!!). Honestly, it was probably a good thing because the is FINALLY cutting those last two teeth and is kind of cranky. She wants to be held constantly! I feel so bad for her... At least these are the last two and we can take a break from the teeth cutting for at least a year or so!! The next thing we need to tackle is the paci habit. She ONLY gets paci in bed now. The bad thing about that is, she wakes up in the night when she can't find it. If she didn't have the dumb thing, she'd sleep through the night! Mom told me about Elisabeth's (from the View) "Paci Fairy" idea. I like it but I don't think she's old enough to understand the concept yet. Do I try to break her habit BEFORE baby #2 is here, or does it really matter? When the time comes, I think I'll send Mike away for the weekend because if she cries in the night and wants paci, he'll give in! I know I have a lot of moms that read this... how did you break the habit? When did you do it?

Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend! OH! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KELLY!!!

The "F" Word

Not that one! It's FRIDAY, kids!!!

Why does it always seem that short weeks are twice as long as regular weeks? I had Monday off for MLK Day, but I SWEAR I still worked six days this week. I'm sure that the fact that I've felt like crap a couple of days and the constant back and forth with a certain department at work (cough...cough...public affairs...cough) doesn't help either. I'm just looking forward to a fun and relaxing weekend!

Jaden and I are trekking down to Muncie tomorrow afternoon to visit with Erin and Hannah. Let's just HOPE Jaden will sleep the whole way there since we are technically skipping her nap. I do feel bad about it because I know how much I look forward to naps (even though I RARELY get to take them) and would be sad if I didn't get to take one. I'm sure once we get there and she has a little friend to play all day with, she'll forgive me :o)

Speaking of being sad, my emotions are SO out of control right now! I remember when I was pregnant with Jaden and I heard a song on a friend's MySpace page, I IMMEDIATELY started crying (it wasn't even a cry song)!! I remember Mike rushing in asking what was wrong and I just said between sobs, "I just really (sniff, sniff) love this song!" Well, the spontaneous bursts of emotion are back! Last night while watching Grey's, I had full tear flow at the end! I was just getting over the tears from Melinda telling Jackson it was "ok to go" when they executed William. I know, I know... he was a murderer and deserved what he got but STILL!! THEN, when Cristina got in the car with Meredith and it became clear that their feud was over, I LOST IT! BTW, is Izzy dying? I didn't really understand the whole "I'm here for you" part. Oh, and I think that deep down I am a scientist too... I never really thought of a doctor as a scientist but the way Denny and Izzy were talking, it made sense! I like facts too. I am a scientist of design :o)

ANYWAY... I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL weekend! I know I'm due for a Flashback Friday... Maybe tonight IF I'm not too tired ;o)
