TKO Weekend

What a weekend!  It all started on Friday.  The girls and I got home around 4:30.  As soon as we walked in the door, Jaden threw up.  It wasn't a lot and she didn't make a huge deal about it so I didn't think anything of it.  Mike and I figured it was just one of those times where you burp and a little bit comes up (gross, I know... but it happens!) and she just spit it out.  It was weird.  She just kinda said sorry and walked away.  The next hour or so, she was acting really cranky.  She didn't want to play with her toys or watch any of her shows.  I had just finished feeding Taylor and was setting the table (Mike was out picking up our pizza).  We were having an early dinner because I was planning on going over to a girlfriend's house to hang out.  I was in another room when Jaden started yelling my name from the family room.  I went in there and all of a sudden, she was spraying puke!  It was seriously like when you put your thumb in the garden hose to make the running water spray.  It was horrible!  I quickly grabbed a bowl and ran to her.  By this time, she has stopped and is very upset by the mess she made.  I stripped her down right there and start cleaning the vomit up (I've never been more glad we didn't get get carpet in that room!).  I called Mike to see where he was because I needed help.  He was just pulling up at home.  Jaden said she felt better.  It sounds crazy now but I gave her some applesauce because she was hungry.  It immediately came right back up.  I was holding her, sitting on the dining room floor (called to cancel my plans for the night) when all of a sudden, Taylor starts throwing up!  Mike grabs her from her high chair and is trying to clean her up.  She is not stopping.  The puke just keeps coming.  We switch and I try to get Taylor cleaned up.  I changed her clothes and put her in her bed so I could clean up the mess in the dining room.  One thing after another... eventually Mike and I are sitting on the family room floor, him with Jaden and me with Taylor.  We each have a bowl and are holding the girls as they puke.  I knew there was a good chance of dehydration so I tried to give Taylor a little bit of Pedialyte.  She drank it but couldn't keep it down.  I thought it was a good idea to take her to the ER.  I didn't want to drive because I wanted to sit in the back with her in case she started puking again.  I called Mike's brother (he lives very close) but he was out.  I called another friend but she didn't answer.  I called Mom but she was at work and had customers.  Then, Taylor's skin turned gray.  Her eyes started rolling back in her head and she was completely limp in my arms.  I called Mom back and told her we needed to go NOW.  She was just ringing up her last customer and was on her way.  As soon as I hung up with her, Jaden started throwing up what looked like blood.  I called Mom back and said we were all going.  While we were waiting on her to get there, I was constantly trying to get Taylor to look at me and to wake up.  I have never been so scared.  I have never seen a living human being look like that before.  Mom gets there and we go to the ER.  They were both just so dehydrated.  It was a long night (I think we got discharged a little after midnight).  Mom was on her way home when she drove past Gramma and Grampa's house and saw Gramps's car was running.  She stopped and saw that my Gramma was sick too.  Gramps was just getting ready to take her to the ER so Mom helped him.  She ended up going to Kendallville with them and didn't get to bed until after 4 am.

I had planned on taking the girls to Muncie on Saturday to meet up with a couple of friends and their kids but had to cancel those plans too.  Saturday was a better day.  Both girls were feeling a lot better.  I, on the other hand, had a constant headache all day long.  Saturday, in the night, I woke up and felt ill.  I started throwing up and continued to do so throughout the night and into Sunday morning.  I was pretty much lifeless on Sunday but am feeling much better now!

It was a crazy and scary weekend and I'm actually thankful that Monday is here!  This flu is one nasty bug.  Come on people, THINK SPRING!!!

Oh. My. God. Shannon, this is such a nightmare!!!
I don't know what I would have done in this situation. Thank goodness the illnesses seem to be as short as they are extreme in this case. I've never heard of such a violent, intense flu! I'm going to be knocking on wood and sanitizing like crazy today. Take good care of yourself, okay? When momma not good, ain't nobody good!

I know what you went through! My 6 yr old was puking for an entire night, than my 1 yr old joined in on the "fun" and now my husband is home sick. So far I'm the only one (knock on wood) that is healthy!
