Wow! I don't know about you guys, but the snow sure is falling here! Right now, I find it to be very pretty. Ask me in February and I'm sure I'll tell you that I'm moving to Florida!
I got started on Jaden's Christmas gift last night. I thought I'd share a little part of it and a super sneak peek of what's to come!
Padded Message/Photo Board
Supplies Needed:
1 piece of plywood (I used ½ inch)
1 piece of batting cut to the size of your board. I quadrupled the thickness for a really soft and cushy board.
1 piece of fabric cut 2 inches larger than your board on all four sides.
Hot glue gun and plenty of glue sticks!
First, glue your batting to your board around the edges only. Trim off any extra batting. Place padded board batting side down on the back of your fabric.
Pull fabric tight and glue to the board. Glue opposite sides for maximum tightness :o)
Ta-da!
This is how it looks from the front.
Then, cut ribbon and lay in a crisscross pattern. Pull SUPER tight and glue to back. Make sure to weave your ribbon!
And there you have it! You could add a ribbon to hang it from and have the perfect gift for anyone! Just wait until you see how I'm going to use it!
Here is a sneak peek :o)

It turned out so cute. I'm hosting We're Organized Wednesday until Saturday and would love for you to join. Hope to see you there.
Thanks for the tutorial...I found it while doing a google search on a diy way to make one. I finally made one today and it turned out pretty good :)
I purchased one of these padded message boards at a local thrift store and I wanted to change the fabric and ribbons but didn't know how to determine how much much new ribbon I would need. Your tuitorial shows exactly how to do this makeover. Don't know what it is made of but guess I can pull it apart and find out. What do you use to hand yours up with? Command hooks? I'd like to try those instead of using a nail to hang it. Thanks for sharing this..I've saved your tuitorial to refer to if I get lost in the makeover process.
