Tangled Birthday Party - The Invitations

Jaden decided that for her fourth birthday, she wanted to celebrate Rapunzel style! Ever since she saw Tangled, she has been obsessed!  Here are the invitations I created for her! I saw this idea but thought it looked a little too plain.

First, I cut 1/3 off of the length of my yellow cardstock, making the dimensions 8.5"x7.334" (think of a tri-fold brochure and cut off one panel).  Then, I folded that in half making my card 8.5"x3.667" (again, think brochure size).

Next, I found stone-like paper to represent Rapunzel's tower and cut that to fit the front of my invitation (8.5"x3.667").

Using double-sided tape, I attached the stone to the front of the card.

Then, I cut triangle roofs from purple paper and attached them to the top of the card, right on top of the stone paper.

Then, I cut along the edge of the purple triangle (through the front and back of the card) to create the roof of the tower.

Next, I cut a window out of the front of the tower.

Rapunzel has blonde hair, but Jaden has red hair so our braid had to be red! To create the braid, I sandwiched three 8-inch strands of yard between double sided tape.

Then, I tucked the taped end in the window, between the stone and yellow papers.

Then, I just braided the yarn and tied it off with a piece of yellow yarn.

Finally, I made the invitation part, printed and trimmed them, and attached them to the inside of the card!

There you have it!
Jaden Claire, let down your hair!

I'm linking this to my favorite linky parties this week!
