Last weekend, we had Jaden's last birthday party... a celebration with her friends! I found the perfect little rustic pavilion in a quiet little park with an awesome playground. I knew it would be perfect for J's Tangled party! Except for the fact that the temps dropped and it rained. Oh well. The first thing J said when she got there was, "Thanks, Mom! This is the best birthday party ever!" as she hugged me :o)
I recreated the tower cake, only this time went all cupcake for the base. I found these cute little toppers and honestly, I think it turned out better than the first one!
See, doesn't the stone wall remind you of Rapunzel's tower?? |
I pictured lots of lanterns, bunting flags, and streamers hanging from the ceiling, but as you can see, the wind was a little much. Mom got the lanterns hung and that was it.
We were able to use some of the flags though. Also, I hung up some of Jaden's Tangled artwork!
As the kids arrived, they colored some Tangled pictures to take home with them. You can find the printable for these here.
Then, we played a version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey... We hit Flynn Rider on the nose with a frying pan!
I used an overhead projector to draw the WANTED poster from the movie. Then, I found a printable for the frying pan. I wrote each child's name on the frying pan, blindfolded them, and sent the off! Jaden awarded her friend, Brenna, a Tangled coloring book for getting the closest! Actually, Jaden got her pan smack dab on Flynn's nose but opted to give her prize to second place.
Next, we ate! I made mac & cheese and hot dogs... easy kid-friendly food :o)
Here is the recipe for my homemade mac & cheese:
Ingredients
3 tbsp. margarine
1½ c. uncooked macaroni
2 c. milk
2 c. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
salt & pepper
1. Melt margarine in baking dish.
2. Stir uncooked macaroni in butter to coat.
3. Sprinkle with salt & pepper to taste.
4. Stir in milk and cheese.
5. Bake uncovered at 350º for one hour. Do not stir.
Then, J got to open the presents her friends brought her!
Finally, we sang Happy Birthday, Jaden made a wish, and we all enjoyed some cake and ice cream!
I also made favor bags for the kids. I used brown paper lunch sacks with a yellow sun glued to the front. Inside, I included a Tangled tower bookmark, a Pascal party blower (made by me!), a Ring Pop, Disney Princess fruit snacks, mini Tangled coloring pages and crayons, and for the girls, I included a flower clip I made for their hair!
The party blowers were a hit :o)
It was fun... cold, but fun :o)
You can see her first Tangled party here.
The tutorial for her invitations can be found here.
I'm linking this to my favorite linky parties!

Too cute, Shan! So sorry the weather didn't cooperate, but love that it didn't seem to dampen any spirits! Those party blowers are awesome. And J's friends are cuties!

Do you have a link where I can get the sun template? My daughters Tangled birthday is this weekend and I can't find one anywhere.
Thanks!
Julie
@Julie P.- Here is the link http://a.family.go.com/images/cms/disney/PDFs/Tangled%20-%20Golden%20Sun%20Medallion%20Template.pdf
I didn't cut the pieces out separately, just traced them on top of each other.
Can you tell me where you got the mini coloring sheets? Thanks so much!
Cute! I have seen so many of those party blowers at recent Tangled parties..they always seem to be the most popular! ;)
