Badges of Fun!

Last summer, Jaden participated in a reading challenge.  She had a lot of fun with it and it was something to work toward.  I knew I wanted to do something like that again this summer so when I got my latest issue of Disney Family Fun magazine and saw the Badges of Fun activity, I was so excited!

What the Badges of Fun is, is a way for kids to earn badges by doing fun activities with the whole family.  Disney Family Fun is also providing the opportunity to win prizes, but most importantly, all four of us can do these activities together!  The badges are displayed on a commemorative display poster.  Our poster came in our Disney Family Fun magazine, but you can print your own from the Family Fun website!  Over the coming months, Family Fun offers a few activities that can be completed to earn a badge.

Badge number one is the Backyard Fun badge!  To earn this, we must complete one of three activities:
  1. Play Twilight Games - This is a great opportunity to take advantage of the longer days.  Get outside after dinner and play some fun games!  When I was a kid, my brother and I loved to play shock with our neighborhood friends.  Unfortunately, it gets dark a little too late for my kids but I can't wait until we can do this!
  2. Host A Campout - Jaden loves to play camping!  She makes tents and pretends to have a campfire.  This would be so fun for her!  We could set the tent up in the backyard, roast marshmallows, and sing songs.  This activity would be fun to do with Jaden during the day because I don't think she would do well sleeping outside yet.  I do look forward to taking both kids on a girls only campout someday!
  3. Create Yard Art - BINGO!  This one is right up our alley!  There are so many things the girls could do to create art for our yard.  We could make wind chimes.  We could paint rocks.  We could decorate a flower pot.  We could make a stepping stone.  I love this idea!
I am so excited to get going with our Badges of Fun!  When we complete our activity, I can print the earned badge to attach to our poster.  I know that the girls will have a blast with this challenge!

So, are you on board?  There are activities for ALL ages, and it's free!  Why not?  Have fun... I can't wait to hear the details of your Badges of Fun activity!

I want to do this! How about I drop my girls off for the campout :). No really I am going to do this. Were the details in the latest copy of Disney Family Fun, the one with the 4th of July treat ideas?
