Have a "GRAPE" Day!

According to Babycenter.com. my new resident is nearly an inch long and weighs just a fraction of an ounce!! It's starting to look more and more human. All essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: the baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do it's tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. My baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Eyes are fully formed, but the eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. It has tiny earlobes, and the mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that baby's basic physiology is in place, it's poised for rapid weight gain!

I'm starting to "feel" pregnant now... my pants are definitely starting to get a little tighter! Come on warm weather!! Let's bring out the stretchy capris and ditch these unbuttoned jeans for good! Yesterday, a lady at work was excited to see my tummy starting to pop out. Don't worry, I've been taking belly pictures!! I'm just waiting until I get a couple before I post them.

Non-pregnancy news... I've finished the first three Janet Evanovich (Stephanie Plum series) books and am already deep into number four!! Thanks for getting me hooked, Mom!! I should've read all of the other books I got for Christmas and my birthday FIRST because I don't think I'll be able to until I read all 14 from this series! They are SO addicting!! In fact, as I drive past the bail bond office on my way to work every morning, I contemplate stopping in and asking if they are hiring bounty hunters :o) JUST KIDDING!!! (kinda...)

Speaking of GREAT books... My old favorite series, Shopaholic, has been made into a movie. As you can see, I didn't put an exclamation point at the end of that sentence. After falling in love with the book, In Her Shoes, before watching the movie, I was INCREDIBLY disappointed in the movie! I don't have high hopes for Shopaholic but Mom and I are going to see it Friday night. I just pictured someone totally different than the girl in the previews. Oh well, I can't NOT see it! I'll definitely let you know what I think!

Shannon, I tried to log on to your blog from the hotel computer in Chicago and it wouldn't let me. It said "Site coach thinks this website contains context harmful to a young public. The page was blocked!" The part about "external sex organs" was too much for my young psyche!!
